Meet Ketaki Jani, the first hairless model in India and winner of numerous national and international beauty pageants. actively and continuously working to raise awareness of alopecia.
I, Ketaki Jani, was born on January 10, 1971, in Ahmedabad to a conventional Indian household. Gujarati was my mother tongue when I completed my MA and B.Ed.
In 1997, I moved to Pune in search of a decent opportunity. In 1994, a daughter entered the family, and in 1998, a son completed it.
Up until May 2010, having two children, two dogs as pets, and a very fulfilling profession made for a happy life. My world was abruptly turned upside down by the rapid hair loss. By the phrase ALOPECIA, I am devastated. Steroids were the sole short-term treatment for these hair-loss conditions. It was regrowing hair, but at a high weight and with risky side effects. Having to answer the questions that society was shooting at you, such as "Is that cancer?" was more traumatic.
In other words, leaving the house was nearly impossible. Heard rumors that a woman who had lost her hair had committed suicide. I was being pitied by those who were trying to be sympathetic: kaise jiyegi bichari?
I determined one wonderful morning not to die every day after experiencing deep depression. I stepped out in front without a scarf or wig. And the wonder of society silenced everyone...
My participation in Miss India's international competition was purely recreational. I was prepared to leave the Mumbai round empty-handed. Too few people were present, and even they were staring at me in bewilderment. Yet, the panel's judges were quite complimentary. I had a fantastic round in Dubai, full of experience and high expectations.
Finally in Delhi, I had a fantastic time with express. The most unforgettable response was from a seasoned actress a legend called Zeenat Aman who said: let the crown be worn by anyone but for me, you are the winner. Your unique height is something that never changes.
And in reality, I earned MRS. INFLUENCE. Then I took part in numerous beauty contests and ultimately won MRS. INSPIRATION. Subsequently, I took part in numerous beauty pageants and finished this prosperous chapter by joining MRS. Grab MRS. Universe 2018, which took place in the Philippines in December 2018. INFINITE CONFIDENT
I cherish positivism, my two kids, and my two dogs.
I wish to work and fight for alopecia patients to improve their quality of life.
First model and alopecia survivor in India.
