The situation is worsening due to the tax dispute between the BCCI and the ICC, the impact of which is visible in the ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India. And if no solution is found, then the hosting of the World Cup can also be snatched from India.
One Day World Cup is to be held at the end of the year 2023. But in this One Day World Cup to be held in India, dark clouds are seen hovering over the hosting of India, due to which the tax dispute is arising between the International Cricket Council and the Indian Cricket Board, due to which India is unable to host this One Day World Cup. may lose the hosting
According to the media, ICC told the BCCI to arrange tax exemption from the Indian government for organizing World Cup 2023, but it is difficult to do so because the Indian government does not give any exemption in organizing any kind of event. A similar dispute happened between ICC and BCCI in 2016 when India hosted T20, at that time BCCI was not able to arrange tax exemption from the Indian Government, and in the end, it had to give its shares to ICC again. It has arisen that according to the ICC policy, the country hosting the event has to coordinate with its government and give tax exemption, if BCCI fails to do so for the 2023 World Cup, then it will have to give shares {900 CR.} to ICC. The media is saying that if this dispute is not resolved and ICC does not get its share, then it can also consider changing the world event. BCCI is trying its best to solve this issue.
